Traditional Uses
Blue Lotus has a very earthy flavor as tea so it is combined with herbs believed to be beneficial for relaxation to elevate its flavor. Most people use one teaspoon of the flowers to a cup of hot (not boiling) water. Boiling hot water may make teas taste bitter and probably does not offer any additional benefits. The tea is steeped for at least 5 – 10 minutes. Some people choose to add a little honey as a sweetener.
There are people who enjoy smoking Blue Lotus. It pairs well with mullein, mugwort, and other herbal allies. Anecdotal information seems to indicate that smoking this ally intensifies its effects. It has been compared to marijuana, but as with anything else, the effect may vary from one person to the next.
